GENERAL INFORMATION

Getting To The Institute
Car Travel:
From West:
Follow the 401 eastbound to the Don Valley Parkway (DVP) exit. From this exit
take the 404 north. Follow the 404 north to Steeles and Woodbine exit (Exit
22). Stay to the right of the exit, as you will be turning right on to Steeles.
Once on Steeles, go to the third set of lights, which is Pharmacy Avenue,
and turn right. Follow Pharmacy Avenue south to the first driveway and turn
right. Follow the driveway to the parking lot, which is located on the West
side of the building.
The 407 Express Toll Route is also an option (toll charges apply). Follow
the 407 eastbound to the 404 exit. From this exit take the 404 south. Follow
the 404 south to Steeles and go eastbound. See above for remaining directions.
From East:
Follow the 401 westbound to the Don Valley Parkway (DVP) exit. From this exit

From South:
Follow the Don Valley Parkway (DVP) north and once you cross over the 401,
it becomes the 404. Follow the 404 north to Steeles and Woodbine exit (Exit
22). Stay to the right of the exit, as you will be turning right on to Steeles.

and turn right. Follow Pharmacy Avenue south to the first driveway and turn
right. Follow the driveway to the parking lot, which is located on the West

Train Travel:
If travelling from the east by train, please get off at Guildwood Station (close to Institute for Learning).
Public Transit to Facilities (ISL)
How to take public transport to the Facilities
If you are attending the Health Promotion Summer School at the Institute for
Learning, and need to take public transportation, here are the instructions:
l. Go the FINCH station (if you are downtown, you will take the yellow line)
2.Take the bus called Steeles East (should take approximately
30 minutes from the Finch subway stop)

The cost of cab fare from the DON MILLS subway station (Fairview Shopping
Mall)
to the Institute for Learning is $12.
General Information about the Facilities:
Smoking
The Institute for Learning is primarily a smoke-free environment. For residential
guests, smoking is permitted in designated guestrooms. Other smoking areas
are the Courtyard and The English Garden.
Valuables Protection
Safe deposit boxes are available at the Front Desk. We are not responsible
for valuables left in your guestroom. Inquiries regarding lost and found
items
should be directed to the Front Desk.
Gratuities
Our associates are as attentive as they are friendly. Your comfort is their
concern, and tipping is not required.

Barrier Free Rooms
*Although barrier free rooms are not equipped with an ironing board, one can
be made available through the front office should it be required. All the
items listed above are available in the barrier free rooms as well as:
electronic curtains
wall mounted fire light indicator
Hearing Impaired Guests
One barrier free room can be equipped with the following: a doorbell that
when pressed, will signal a light to come on inside the guestrooms and thus
notify you that there is someone at the door; a disk which can be placed between
the mattress and the box spring so that when set, will shake the bed to attempt
to wake you up like an alarm clock would; and a telephone TTY device
Dining Hall
Our Dining Hall was modelled after Hart House at University of Toronto and
offers complete meals service Sunday evening through Friday afternoon. During
the evening, the Social Centre offers hot and cold beverages and bar snacks.
Should your event take place on a weekend, the Dining Hall will be open for
your desired times.

Laundry Service
Valet Laundry/Dry Cleaning slips are located in your room. Laundry brought
to the Front Desk by 8:00 am will be returned the same day. Charges will be
added to your room account and are settled at time of check-out.
A clothes washer and a dryer are available for your personal use in the Laundry
area at no cost should you prefer to do your own laundry. Detergent and fabric
softener are available.
