The department of Slavic languages and literatures is mourning the recent passing of Professor Emeritus David Huntley.
Huntley was an excellent scholar, renowned in the profession for his encyclopaedic knowledge of Old Church Slavonic and Old Russian. He was also an inspiring teacher who enjoyed a devoted following among undergraduate and graduate students alike. An accomplished polyglot, he read widely in fourteen languages, including Welsh and Estonian.
The flag at Simcoe Hall will be lowered to half-mast today in his memory.
