Electronic Library of Ukrainian Literature

Electronic library of Ukrainian Literature Ukrainian Studies
The Electronic Library of Ukrainian Literature provides free access to electronic texts of Ukrainian literature to all readers, particularly to students outside Ukraine, where texts are often difficult to obtain.

The library is a personal project of Prof. Maxim Tarnawsky at the University of Toronto. Support for the library has come from the Danylo Husar Struk Programme in Ukrainian Literature of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, the University of Toronto, and Ukrainian publishers, including Krytyka, Pulsary, and MOSTY.

The Electronic LIbrary contains both Ukrainian and English texts. The Ukrainian side of the library, which contains original works of literature and critical, historical, and other meta-literary texts, has seen much more development than the English side. The English side of the library contains English translations of literary texts. This side of the library will be developing slowly over time, but will, hopefully, grow to a substantial collection of translated texts. This is particularly important since many of these texts are long out of print and can only be found in a very limited number of large research libraries.

The collection of English translations will be accessible from this page. Click here for the Ukrainian texts. I wish to express my sincere appreciation, and that of all library users, to Anatole Bilenko, Mary Skrypnyk, and Yuri Tkach, who have given permission for their published translations to be included in this library. Their works will be appearing in the near future.
