Delayed SPSS for August 1, 2018 to July 31, 2019Updated July 13, 2018
We are currently in the process of procuring SPSS for the upcoming license period. There have been delays in obtaining the license as there are changes in how IBM is distributing the product to Ontario Universities. We expect that the included modules will remain the same.
We will continue to update this space when new information is available.
Currently installed versions of SPSS will continue to work until the end of August.

MATLAB MATLAB Announcement for 2018 - License Period Change
Since the introduction of the MATLAB TAH license there have been concerns about the timing of the license period not aligning with the Academic year. We are pleased to announce that the license period for the upcoming MATLAB renewal will be changed to a one-time 6 month term from January 1, 2018 to June 30, 2018. Going forward the license will be an annual renewal from July 1 to June 30 each year.
This will have a number of positive outcomes for the future. As the license will now align with the Academic year it will provide more benefit for those looking to purchase new licenses at the beginning of the school year. It will allow IT staff to roll-out the latest version of the software and update the license at a non-critical time.
In the current UofT budget year the license will be half of what it would normally cost. In the next license period it will be at normal cost and come sooner in the budget year (July 1 instead of January 1).
Moved Online The Licensed Software Office has Moved Online
Because of the overwhelming success of our online storefronts which provide access to downloadable software, the LSO has closed its counter-storefront as of July 10, 2017 and moved to an online only presence.
uSOURCE is the online storefront where departments, faculty, and staff can purchase software using University of Toronto Financial Information System (FIS) accounts. A majority of the software can be downloaded immediately after purchase with the exception being those requiring software vendor account creation or internal checks. For information on uSOURCE and account creation please see Procurement Service's website.
software.utoronto.ca is the online storefront where purchases can be made using credit card or Interac debit cards. It is also the website where all purchases, including those made through uSOURCE, are downloaded. Please note that off-campus access by graduate students, faculty, and staff requires the installation of UTORvpn.
For software purchases requiring DVD media, please complete the paper order form and scan and email it to our office. We will then set an appointment for pickup at a later date. Please note that as a result of this move we can no longer accept faxed orders.
Payment Options Discontinuation of Journal Entries and Invoicing
Beginning May 1, 2017 the Licensed Software Office will no longer accept payment using journal entries (debit memos) or invoicing. Our order forms have be updated to reflect this change.
