FAQ

When is the next registration?
Winter series (January to March) registration takes place in early November; and the Fall series (September to November) registration in the spring.

At what age can I apply to become a member?
LLL is designed for retired individuals. But we do not have an age requirement.

I cannot attend the next series. Will my name be removed from the membership list.
No. Your name will remain on the list as long as you have registered for and completed one of the past three lecture series.

I missed four lectures in the last series because of vacation. Will that count against me?
Yes. If you know you are going to be on an extended vacation, do not register for a course as you are potentially denying another member an opportunity to attend. 

What is Active Membership?
You remain an Active Member as long as you complete one of the past three lecture series. Incomplete courses are:

May I get a refund after I've registered, if my circumstances change?
No, unfortunately, refunds will not be given.

How long are the lectures?
Lectures are one hour in length followed by a 15 minute break and a 30 minute Q & A. Morning sessions start promptly at 10:00 a.m. while afternoon sessions commence at 1:00 p.m.

Is there anywhere to hang my coat in Town Hall?
Unfortunately, there is no cloak room at Town Hall.

Is there anywhere to eat at Innis College?
Yes, there is a café right next to the Town Hall where refreshments can be purchased.  Also, at the one-hour mark of the lecture there is a fifteen minute break where coffee and muffins can be purchased at $1 each. However, only water is permitted in the Town Hall. No other food or drinks are permitted.

 

Online Registration FAQ:

NOTE: If you inadvertently register in a course more than once PLEASE DO NOT have your credit card issuer withdraw/cancel the charge.

Question: I don’t have a computer/printer?
Answer:  You will need a computer but you do not need a printer unless you want to print the course registration confirmation and payment receipt.

Question: How will I know when I can register for a course?
Answer: Your login id and unique password will be emailed to you. The email will also tell you the time and date that registration opens.

Question: How do I pay for my course?
Answer:  You will use a credit card.  PayPal is the payment provider. 

Question: Do I have to have a PayPal account?
Answer:  No, you can use your credit card without signing up for a PayPal account.

Question: I'll be away on the day of registration, can I register online early?
Answer:  No, you cannot register before online registration opens. If you have access to a computer, you can register from anywhere in the world - this is the beauty of online registration. If you do not have access to a computer you could have a friend/relative register for you; you will need to give them your login id and password so that they can login as you and register as you. Your login id and password will be emailed to you well before online registration opens.

Question: If I'm registering for a friend, how will I know?
Answer: On the payment page of the online registration, there is a space for 'Instructions'. Anything you type in there will be printed on the PayPal payment confirmation that is sent when the payment has been processsed. Please make sure you type the correct email address in the space provided on the payment page.

Question: Several of us always attend together.  Can I register more than one member at a time?
Answer:  No.  You can only register one member at a time.  Each member will login using their own user id and password (to be provided prior to the opening of on-line registration). 

Question: I haven’t received any emails from LLL?
Answer:  Check the Junk or Spam box for emails from LLL and make sure that you have lll.innis@utoronto.ca in your list of contacts.

Question: What if my email address has changed or is incorrect?
Answer:  Changes of email address should be emailed to LLL at lll.innis@utoronto.ca.  It is important that we have your current email address so that you do not miss any emails from LLL.  We have attempted to verify everyone’s email address during the summer of 2013.

Question: Can I register online and pay by sending a cheque via Canada Post?
Answer:  No

Question: Can I pay by Prepaid Credit Card?
Answer: Yes, a Prepaid Credit Card can be used to pay for your online registration.  Please note there will be a charge when you purchase the card and there may also be a small fee when you pay online. 

Question: What information do I need to use the online registration?
Answer:  You will need your user id, password and credit card information.
Question: I’ve lost my login id and password. What should I do?

Answer:  Email LLL at lll.innis@utoronto.ca. Prior to each registration, an email will be sent to all members providing their password and instructions of how to register online.
Question: How will I know I’m registered for a course?

Answer:  Once your online payment has been accepted, you will receive immediate confirmation of registration.  No other email payment confirmations will be sent. Before the course starts, you will be emailed a registration confirmation from lll.innis@utoronto.ca.

Question: How will I know if the course I want is full?
Answer: The word FULL will be displayed to the right of the course title. 

Question: The course I wanted is full, what can I do?
Answer:  Opt for a second choice of course.  If you wish you can be placed on a waiting list for your first choice.  Email us at lll.innis@utoronto.ca with your request.

Question: What do I do if the site jams?
Answer: Don't worry, past experience suggests it is highly probable you will get your request. Take a breath and try it again later, it should work then.

Question: If I want to register for a lecture course AND the Discussion Group, can I register for both together and make one payment?
Answer:  No, you must log in and register for each of them separately.

Question: Can I register for more than one course?
Answer: No, you may register for one course only. In addition you may register for the Discussion Group if you wish and there is space.

Question: I registered for a course but now find I cannot attend.  Can I get a refund?
Answer:  There are NO refunds. If you cannot attend, please send an email to at lll.innis@utoronto.ca

Question: How do I make a donation to LLL if I register online?
Answer:  There will be a “Give Now” button located on the online registration page that can click and follow the instructions.  Or, you may mail a cheque payable to the University of Toronto to Later Life Learning at 2 Sussex Avenue, Toronto M5S 1J5.

Question: What do I do if I need help?
Answer:  Email LLL at lll.innis@utoronto.ca.

Question: I always register by Canada Post but want to try online registration now, how do I get changed?

Answer:  If you have already received a registration brochure via Canada Post, it may be too late to register online for this session.  When you return your enrolment form and cheque, include your email address and a note that you wish to switch to online registration.  You MUST have an email address (yours, a friend or a relative)  to be able to use online registration.

Question:  If I register via Canada Post am I guaranteed a place in my first choice of course?
Answer: No, you are not.  In fact for the very popular courses, you are more likely to get your first choice if you register online.  Only a certain number of spaces in each lecture series are reserved for Canada Post registrants.
