2007-2008, the Program hosted four visiting scholars for one-month
periods of research at the University of Toronto.
Halyna Chybiskova, Junior Research Fellow at the Institute of Economics and Forecasting, Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, will arrive in September to research the topic of “Bifuels in Ukraine: How to Make Them Work.”
Ilko Kucheriv, Director of the think-tank Democratic Initiatives Foundation, will come to Toronto in fall to conduct research on “Informed Citizens: Security and NATO Information Campaign—the Canadian Experience for Ukraine.”
Mykola Posivnych of the Ivan Krypiakevych Institute of Ukrainian Studies will arrive in November to work with the Peter Potichnyj Collection on Insurgency and Counter-Insurgency in the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library. His visit is co-sponsored by the Kolasky Memorial Fellowship (the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies).
Sofia Ryabchuk, a PhD candidate at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy will be coming to CERES in January to conduct research on “The Crisis of Masculinity in the Texts of Ukrainian Avant-Garde Writers of the 1920-30s.” Her visit is co-sponsored by the Petro Jacyk Education Foundation.
Oleksiy Tolochko, Leading Research Associate of the Institute of Ukrainian History, Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, will be coming to the Centre in March to conduct research on “Thinking on Ukrainian History in the First Decades of the Nineteenth Century.”
