Configuring iPhone/iPod Touch Mail for UTORmail

Summary: This document provides specific instructions on how to configure the iPhone/iPod Touch Mail application provided with iPhone/iPod Touch firmware for use with UTORmail.

Before You Start

Before you start, please ensure your UTORid has been activated, and that you have your email address and UTORmail configuration number handy. Also, be sure you are connected to the Internet before running Mail.

*WARNING! The POP setting on the iPhone/iPod Touch Mail application, by default, removes all email messages from your UTORmail INBOX. We strongly recommend that customers using iPhone/iPod Touch Mail application use IMAP for incoming mail server.

Configuring Mail for UTORmail

Quick Reference For Experienced Users

If you are experienced configuring E-mail client software, just use the values in the Values Summary box below. Otherwise, proceed to the directions for creating a new account.
General Configuration Values for Mail
Configuration Setting: It is looking for the: Configuration Value:
Email Address Your "" email address
Incoming Server UTORmail IMAP Server, enable SSL, port 993
Outgoing Server: UTORmail SMTP server, Server port 587, Enable "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)"
Incoming User name: your UTORid your_UTORid
Outgoing User name: your UTORid your_UTORid
* Where "your_UTORid" is replaced by your UTORid.
** Where the NN in "" is replaced by your UTORmail configuration number.

Setting up your UTORmail account

  1. Tap Settings on the home screen:

  2. Scroll down and tap Mail:

  3. Tap Add Account:

  4. Select Other (last option):

  5. Tap IMAP:

  6. Fill out the information fields as follows:
    * Address: Your email address
  • Incoming Mail Server
  • Host Name: (where N is replaced with your UTORmail configuration number)
  • User Name: your UTORid
  • Password: Your Password
  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
  • Host Name:
  • User Name: Your UTORid

  1. Scroll down and tap Advanced.

  2. The following screen will appear
  • Incoming Settings
    • Use SSL: ON.
    • Authentication: Password.
    • Server Port 993
  • Outgoing Settings
    • Use SSL: ON.
    • Authentication: Password.
    • Server Port 587
