General research themes: Synaptic transmission

1. Factors determining the effectiveness of synaptic transmission.
2. Structural and physiological properties of synapses.
3. Long-term changes in synapses resulting from activity.
4. Genetic factors influencing synaptic structure, function, and adaptation, with special attention to the fly (Drosophila genome).
5. Comparative studies on synaptic transmission; role in learning and memory.
6. Nerve circuits and neurons regulating movement in Drosophila.
