20 and the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat. 21 And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for people were saying, "He is beside himself."
22. And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebul, and by the prince of demons he casts out the demons." 23 And he called them to him, and said to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. 27 But no one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man; then indeed he may plunder his house. 28 "Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin"

64 Jesus said, "A man had received visitors. And when he had prepared the dinner, he sent his servant to invite guests. He went to the first one and said to him, "My master invites you.' He said, 'I have claims against some merchants. They are coming to me this evening. I must go and give them my orders. I ask to be excused from the dinner.' He went to another and said, 'My master has invited you.' He said to him, 'I have just bought a house and am required for the day. I shall not have any spare time.' He went to another and said to him, 'My master invites you.' He said to him, 'My friend is going to get married, and I am to prepare the banquet. I shall not be able to come. I ask to be excused from the dinner.' He went to another and said to him, 'My master invites you.' He said to him, 'I have just bought a farm, and I am on my way to collect the rent. I shall not be able to come. I ask to be excused.' The servant returned and said to his master, 'Those whom you invited to the dinner have asked to be excused.' The master said to his servant, 'Go outside to the streets and bring back those whom you happen to meet, so that they may dine.' Businessmen and merchants will not enter the Places of My Father." |
22.1 And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, 22.2 "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a marriage feast for his son, 22.3 and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast; but they would not come. 22.4 Again he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have made ready my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves are killed, and everything is ready; come to the marriage feast.' 22.5 But they made light of it and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, 22.6 while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. 22.7 The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. 22.8 Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy. 22.9 Go therefore to the thoroughfares, and invite to the marriage feast as many as you find.' 22.10 And those servants went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good; so the wedding hall was filled with guests. 22.11 "But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment; 22.12 and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless. 22.13 Then the king said to the attendants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and cast him into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.' 22.14 For many are called, but few are chosen." |
14.15 When one of those who sat at table with him heard this, he said to him, "Blessed is he who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!" 14.16 But he said to him, "A man once gave a great banquet, and invited many; 14.17 and at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, 'Come; for all is now ready.' 14.18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it; I pray you, have me excused.' 14.19 And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them; I pray you, have me excused.' 14.20 And another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.' 14.21 So the servant came and reported this to his master. Then the householder in anger said to his servant, 'Go out quickly to the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor and maimed and blind and lame.' 14.22 And the servant said, 'Sir, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.' 14.23 And the master said to the servant, 'Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled. 14.24 For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet.'" |

5.38. "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' 5.39 But I say to you, Do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also; 5.40 and if any one would sue you and take your coat, let him have your cloak as well; 5.41 and if any one forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 5.42 Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from you. 5.43. "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 5.44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 5.45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 5.46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 5.47 And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 5.48 You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. |
6.27. "But I say to you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 6.28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. 6.29 To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from him who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. 6.30 Give to every one who begs from you; and of him who takes away your goods do not ask them again. 6.31 And as you wish that men would do to you, do so to them. 6.32 "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 6.33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 6.34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. 6.35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish. 6.36 Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. |
8.2 Early in the morning he came again to the temple; all the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. 8.3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst 8.4 they said to him, "Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 8.5 Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such. What do you say about her?" 8.6 This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 8.7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her." 8.8 And once more he bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 8.9 But when they heard it, they went away, one by one, beginning with the eldest, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 8.10 Jesus looked up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" 8.11 She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you; go, and do not sin again."
