For immediate release August 11, 1996 Ireland CANADIAN JUMPER SETS NEW RECORD / WINS WORLD CUP JARET LLEWELLYN (Innisfail, Alberta) set a new Canadian Jump Record at the 1996 Paddy Jump Classic in Ireland. Llewellyn placed first with a jump of 66.7 metres/219 feet which is 2.5 metres / 8 feet farther than Llewellyn's previous record of 64.3 metres / 211 feet. Steffen Wild of Germany was second with 64.3 metres / 211 feet, followed by Bruce neville of Australia who went 63.7 metres / 209 feet. Jim Clunie (Tisdale, Saskatchewan) placed 7th with a jump of 60.9 metres / 200 feet. This victory gave Llewellyn the 1996 World Cup Title ahead of Neville and Roberge. Clunie placed 5th in the final standings. The Paddy Classic was the final stop in the 1996 World Cup Jump Circuit.
