Day 3 - 1996 World Junior Water Ski Championships NEW ZEALAND JUMPER EXCITES THE CROWD AT WORLD JUNIOR WATER SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS Fiona Nairn of New Zealand came within 10 centimetres of setting a World Junior Jump Record with a distance of 40.4 metres. The World Junior Jump record for women stands at 40.5 metres. Brandi Hunt (USA) and Laura Castelli (ITA) had to go to a run-off to decide the gold medal winner in the women's slalom event. Brandi Hunt won the tie-breaker giving her 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal at the Championships. Canadian men jumpers Guillaume Pare (Sherbrooke, Quebec) jumped 43.6 metres (143 feet) and Clint Baikie (Campbell River, BC) went a distance of 43.3 (142 feet) metres in which placed 7th and 8th respectively.
