YOUNG WATER SKIING STARS HIT WATER
Immediate Release
August 10, 1997
Brandon, MB

Jenne Mielzynski (ON) is only nine years old and is excited and honoured to
be a member of Team Ontario at the 1997 Canada SUmmer Games. Her only
concern is that for the past two nights she has gone to bed way past her
usual bedtime. Mielzynski holds the title as the youngest athlete at the
Games. She is the Canadian Record holder in her respective division (Girls 1
- 9 & under) in the slalom event. She has broken her own Canadin Record five
(5) times already this season. She also has pending records in both the
trick and jump events.

Eleven year old Marie Josee Cardinal (ON) is also a Canadian Record Holder
in her division in the slalom event. (Girls 22 - 10-12 years) She has broken
her own record four (4) times in 1997. Cardinal has the ability and the
opportunity to set new records in the trick and jump events during this
upcoming week of competition.

Alberta water skier Ryan Dodd is a twelve year old on a mission. He wants to
break the Canadian Records in both the trick and jump events and he is right
on track to do exactly that this week in Brandon. Dodd previously held the
trick record and wants it back. He has already outperformed the current
records in both the trick and jump events for his division (Boys 2 - 10-12
years) and is ready to do so again in a record capable tournament such as
the Canada Games.

In 1993, water ski athlete Lyndsey Horton (NS) was the youngest athlete at
the Kamloops Games at 10 years of age. Lyndsey is back at the Games for the
second time in a row as a member of the 1997 Nova Scotia team at age 14.

Water skiing starts Monday, August 11 at 8:00 AM with the women's slalom
event followed by Men's trick (start 11:45) and Women's jump (start 2:00 PM).
