CANADIAN RECORDS SMASHED

The youngest of Canadian water skiers were the stars on the water today.

Alberta 12 year old, Ryan Dodd (Olds, AB) set records in both of his events
today - slalom and tricks. He stroked a 4 @ 14.25 metres and tricked 2750
points. Dodd surrently has a pending trick record under review for 3990
points, set at the 1997 Western Canadian Championships. Dodd will try to
continue his dominance of the Boys 2 division tomorrow in the jump event.

Nine year old wonder, Jenna Mielzynski (Bellefontaine, ON) managed to break
her own slalom and jump records before the day was over. Her Girls 2 slalom
record (previously 2.5 @ 16 metres) never had a chance as she completed her
16 metres pass and continued to 2 buoys @ 14.25 metres. After breakeing her
own jump record twice last week at the Canaada Summer Games did it again
with a jump of 15.5 metres - erasing over 2 metes off her previous distance
of 13.4 metres.

Pam Sabourin (BC) wowed the crowd with a jump of almost three metres further
than the Girls 2 jump record which was held by Lyndsey Horton (NS) at 16.3
metres. Sabourin established a new distance of 19.2 metres.

The Canadian National Water Ski Championships continue through Sunday,
August 24 with the 1997 Canadian Open highlighting as the event finale.
