STRONG PERFORMANCES AT AMERICAS CHALLENGE

Canada, the US and Latin America (including Chile, Mexico, Argentina and
Colombia) competed this weekend at the Americas Challenge at Shalom Park in
Edmonton.  Overall team results were as follows:

Junior Division	1st USA, 2nd Latin America, 3rd Canada	17-21Division	1st
USA, 2nd Latin America, 3rd Canada 	
Senior Division	1st USA, 2nd Canada, 3rd  Latin America

Joel McClintock (Ontario) won the overall title in the Senior Men's
division.  In the Junior Boys division, Clint Baikie (Campbell River, BC)
placed second overall with 2463 points, close behind Austin Nichols (USA)
who scored 2550 points.

Canadian skiers Tony Boswell (Arnprior, ON) and Clint Baikie (Campbell
River, BC) had the two best slalom scores in the Junior Boys division.
Boswell rounded 4.0 buoys at a 12 metre line (52 buoys) while Baikie
followed close behind with a score of 3.0 buoys at a 12 metre line (51 buoys).  

Other Canadian highlights included a personal best jump of 49.9 metres by
Guillaume Pare (Sherbrooke, PQ).  Tricia Anderson (Kingston, ON) had the
second best jump in the 17-21 Girls jump finals with a distance of 38.2
metres.  Ryan Peskett (BC) put in the third best jump in the 17-21 Boys jump
event with a distance of 50.8 metres.
