KOVAK WINS AT HARTFORD PRO TOUR STOP

Canada's Jeremy Kovak (Millgrove, ON) took first place in the men's
wakeboarding finals at this weekend's Pro Tour stop in Hartford,
Connecticut.  Kovak scored 22143 points, ahead of Darin Shapiro (USA) who
placed second with 22095 points.  Kovak's win gives him the season points
lead over Shapiro.  Wakeboarder Jeff Heer (Richmond, BC) placed 11th at this
pro tour stop with 11763 points.

Kreg Llewellyn (Innisfail, AB) took 4th place in the men's jump event after
jumping a distance of 60.6 metres (199 feet).  Jim Clunie (Tisdale, SK)
placed 8th with a jump of 59.7 metres (196 feet).  Winning the men's jump
final was Bruce Neville (AUS) with a jump of  63.2 metres (207 feet). 

In the men's slalom, Drew Ross (Belleville, ON) narrowly missed qualifying
for the semi-finals in a run-off with Jeff Rodgers, scoring 2.5 buoys at a
10.75 metre line (56.5 buoys).   World record holder Andy Mapple (GBR) won
the event  with a run of 1 buoy at 10.25 metre line (61 buoys).

In the USA vs. World Jump Competition, team USA scored 1003 points while the
world team scored 990 points.   Kreg Llewellyn (Innisfail, AB) won his
match-up against Mark Lane (USA) with a jump of 60.9 metres (200 feet).  In
another match-up, Jim Clunie (Tisdale, SK) was defeated by Freddy Krueger
(USA).  Clunie jumped 56.4 metres (185 feet) while Krueger jumped 60.7
metres (199 feet).

The next stop on the Cafe de Colombia Ski tour will be in Indianapolis,
Indiana, July 19 - 20, 1997.
