CANADA'S JEREMY KOVAK TAKES GOLD AT
WORLD WAKEBOARD CHAMPIONSHIPS


Canada's Jeremy Kovak (Millgrove, ON) captured the gold medal at the 
World Wakeboard Championships today in Altamonte Springs, Florida.  
Kovak, the 1996 bronze medalist at the Worlds, scored 22,030 points 
to take his first world title.   

Parks Bonifay (USA) repeated his 1996 silver medal performance with a 
score of 21,573 points, while Shaun Murray captured the bronze with a 
score of 20,770 points.  Jeff Heer (Richmond, BC) narrowly missed 
qualifying for the finals, scoring 16,425 points and placing 16th.  

On the amateur side, Canadian Chad Sharpe (British Columbia) placed 
4th in the Junior Mens' finals with a score of 17,880 points.
