CANADIAN JUMPERS BEST IN WORLD

The Canadian jumpers have proved themselves to be among the best in the
world today at the World Water Ski Championships in Medellin, Colombia.  

The Canadian men captured the gold and the bronze in the men's jump event
today.  Jaret Llewellyn (Innisfail, AB) soared to a first place finish with
an incredible jump of 65.4 metres.  For the second time during this event,
Llewellyn produced the best jump ever recorded at a World Championships.
Teammate Jim Clunie (Tisdale, SK) captured the bronze with an impressive
jump of 62.4 metres.  Curtis Sheers (AUS) claimed the silver, jumping a
distance of 63.3 metres.

The Canadian team also saw action in the men's slalom event.  Kreg Llewellyn
(Innisfail, AB) overcame injuries sustained in the men's jump event on
Friday, rounding 3 buoys at an 11.25 metre line (51 buoys) and placing
sixth.  Drew Ross (Belleville, ON) unfortunately missed a gate at the
beginning of his 13 metre pass, and scored 6 buoys at a 14.25 metre line (36
buoys).  Winning the men's slalom was Andy Mapple (GBR) with a score of 0.5
buoys at a 10.25 metre line (60.5 buoys).

Overall skiers Kreg and Jaret Llewellyn (Innisfail, AB) had excellent final
placings.  Kreg placed second with 2541.1 points, while Jaret placed fifth
with 2370 points.  Patrice Martin (FRA) won the men's overall with 2626.1
points.

Team Canada placed an impressive third overall at these World Championships.
The overall team results are as follows:

	2nd	Italy		7650 points
	3rd	CANADA	7559 points
	4th	Russia		7419 points
	5th 	USA		7389 points
