1998 WORLD JUNIOR WATER SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS

GOLD FOR CANADA !!!!!

KARISSA WEDD (Port Coquitlam, BC) won the GOLD MEDAL in the jump 
event at the 1998 World Junior Water Ski Championships in Dijon, 
France. Her distance of 37.0 metres was well ahead of second place 
which was 35.8 metres. 

Other Canadian skiers in the finals:
The Boy's jump finals saw Canadian skiers Jimmy Townsend (Belleville, 
ON) and Ryan Dobel (Winnipeg, MB) place 6th and 9th places 
respectively. Townsend's distance was 45.4 metres and Dobel jumped 
42.8 metres.

Team Canada placed 8th overall in the team event. The top three teams 
were France (1st), USA (2nd) and Colombia (3rd).
