GOLD RUSH CONTINUES !!!

Canadian Team member Tom Muir (Hamilton, ON) won GOLD in the Open
Men's slalom event. His score of 51.50 buoys (3.5 @ 12.00 metres) was
good enough to win amidst the blistering wind conditions. Kreg
Llewellyn (Innisfail, AB) took the bronze medal with a score of 47.00
buoys (5 @ 13.00 metres). Ron Thompson (USA) placed 2nd with his
performance of 49.50 buoys (1.5 @ 12.00 metre line). Fifth place went
to rookie team member Clint Baikie (Campbell River, BC) who scored
44.50 buoys (2.50 @ 13.00 metres).

Kreg Llewellyn (CAN) added a silver to his collection in the Open Men
trick event. His performance of 9160 points was not quite enough to
catch Cory Pickos (USA) who won the event with 10 650 points. Bronze
medal was awarded to Christian Siegert of Colombia (.

Marie-Helene Lanthier (Montreal, PQ) fought the rough water
conditions to place fourth in the Open Women slalom event with a
score of 41.00 (5 @ 14.25 metres). American skier Rhoni Barton won
the gold medal with 50.00 buoys (2 @ 12.00 metres). April Coble (USA)
was second with 45.00 buoys (3 @ 13.00 metres) and Maria Luisa Botero
(COL) placed third with 43.50 buoys (1.5 @ 13 metres)

HIGH WINDS CANCEL JUMP EVENTS
The Men's Open and Junior Boys jump events fell victim to some nasty
North West winds. Tournament Officials delayed the event due to what
they regarded as unsafe conditions for the skiers. The length of the
delays ran too long to finish the events, therefore these events were
cancelled.

The Open Women managed to get their event completed before the
tournament was held. Canadian Kim de Macedo (Victoria, BC) placed 2nd
behind US skier Brandi Hunt. De Macedo jumped a distance of 36.6
metres while Hunt went for 37.5 metres. Maria Luisa Botero (COL)
placed third with 32.8 metres.

BAIKIE 2nd OVERALL
Clint Baikie, Team Canada's Rookie took the SILVER medal in the Men's
Open Overall. Jorge Renosto (ARG) won the overall by a mere 100
points.
