HIGH WINDS TROUBLE TEAM CANADA

Roquebrune-sur-Argens, FRANCE - Sixty kilometer per hour winds on day one of the 1995 World Water Ski Championships served detrimental for Canada's men slalom skiers today. Matt Rini (Sydenham, Ontario) and Kreg and Jaret Llewellyn (Innisfail, Alberta) all fell unusually early in their events. Kreg Llewellyn scored 1@12m (43 buoys), Matt Rini had 3.5@13m (39.5 buoys) and Jaret Llewellyn had a run of 3@13m (39 buoys). Having not qualified for the slalom finals, these three skiers must now improve their performances in the trick event tomorrow on day two of the tournament. Drew Ross (Belleville, Ontario) will slalom his preliminary round Friday morning.

Canadian women beginning their preliminary events on Friday include: Judy Messer (Streetsville, Ontario) in slalom and tricks and World record holder Susi Graham (Kitchner, Ontario) in slalom. Team Canada, defending World Champions, look forward to continuing and improving their performances Friday on day 2 of the 1995 Worlds.
