Rule 4 - DIVISIONS OF COMPETITION
4.1: Divisions of Competition
4.1.1
Competitions in the three events shall be separated into the following divisions, the contestant's age being as of January 1 prior to the tournament. All contestants should be prepared to provide proof of age. Following the Nationals in the preceding year, the age division for the following year will dictate the age division in which the skier will compete.

4.1.2
Entry into the Open Men's and Open Women's divisions is optional, and shall be restricted to those skiers meeting the following minimum performance requirements during the period since the previous Nationals (Open Division) and including the most recent Nationals.

For calculation of the overall scores, the best performance by a male and female athlete taken from the current Canadian records will be used as the best tournament score. At the time of printing of this edition of the rule book, the best performances are:

4.1.3
A skier who skis in an event in the Open Division, but is not qualified to ski in the remaining Open Division events, may ski in those remaining events in the divisions as listed in Rule 4.1.1.
4.2: Change of Division
4.2.1
Any skier who holds a Nationals performance standard in another division may ski in those divisions in the events so qualified.
4.2.2
Any skier may move from his/her own division to another division in one or more events as listed in the following table:

4.2.3
Any skier who moves up as per Rule 4.2 or skis in the Open division, other than at the National Championships, may not return to the lower division for the remainder of the season.
4.2.4
Any skier who is eligible for selection to a National Junior
Team and achieves a jump result in one record capability
tournament or two separate non-record capability tournaments of 38m for Boys or 31m for Girls may ski in the Men I (but only on the 2.55m ramp and at a maximum speed of 51kph) or Women I jump event respectively. In the slalom event, Boys I and II and Girls I and II divisions may ski in Boys III or Girls III respectively. The skier's results from these optional divisions shall be used for rating purposes only and shall not be eligible for placement in the Men I or Women I jump event or the Boys III or Girls III slalom event. The qualifying result(s) must have been achieved since January 1 of the year preceding the current year. Rule 4.2.3 shall not apply to any skier who skis in Men I or Women I for jump or Boys III or Girls III for slalom under this rule.
