EDMONTON, Alta. The capital city of the Canadian province of Alberta, Edmonton lies on the North Saskatchewan River. It has been a distribution center for northwestern Canada since it was founded in 1795 as a Hudson's Bay Company fur-trading post.
Edmonton is a modern 21st Century city and located 667 meters above sea level. It offers a multitude of amenities including the World's largest shopping center, West Edmonton Mall comprising hundreds of stores and entertainment facilities including an indoor wave pool, water slides, bungie jumping, submarine rides, and an indoor amusement centre all in the confines of one building. Other attractions include the River Valley Park, Fort Edmonton Park, excellent Golf Courses and a host of other amenities. Most areas are within a 20 minute drive from the ski site.
Only a few hours away are the magnificent Rocky Mountains which can be reached by car or bus including famous areas such as Banff National Park, Lake Louise, the Columbia Icefields, and Jasper National Park. Take some time off to enjoy these areas; they are spectacular!

Quad Rooms: $95.00 per night
Advise the reservation desk that it is for the World Jr. Water Ski Championships.
The lake is 2100 feet (640 metres) long and about 250 feet (76 metres) wide. It is a minimum of 8 feet (2.4 metres) deep in the competition area with 12 feet (3.6 metres) deep in front of and beyond the ski jump.
A unique underwater cabling system allows us to submerge all buoys leaving only the required buoys for a particular event on the surface. This avoids any confusion between the different courses. Complete course changes can be accomplished in less than 5 minutes which allows us to provide some unique formats with respect to the competition.
While this is not the first event we have held with international skiers (previous events have included Andy and Deena Mapple, Carl Roberge, Bruce and Toni Neville, Sammy Duvall, Kreg and Jaret Llewellyn, Helena Kjellander, Kristi Overton and others) it is our first event that has been awarded to us by the IWSF. The positive feedback from these professional skiers would suggest that we will have the opportunity to have future events like this since it is considered to be a skiers site. Many personal bests have been set here and we hope you can do the same. The site is well sheltered from wind and equipped with some of the finest facilities and equipment available.
Shalom Park has been the host site to many elite water ski events such as:
1995 Western Canadian Championships
1994 Canadian National Championships
1994 International Water Ski Classic (Pro Stop)
1993 Canadian National Championships
1992 International Water Ski Classic (Pro Stop)
1992 Canadian National Barefoot Championships
1991 Canada vs. USA Challenge
1990 Western Canadian Championships
1989 Canadian National Championships
1988 Western Canadian Championships
1986 Canadian National Barefoot Championships
...and many more !!
For those who arrive early and wish to get some practice time before the tournament, 4 sites have been set aside for this purpose. As these sites are not vacant, but are in fact used by various water ski clubs, some restrictions apply so please note the details:

also be used for all Canadian Regional and National events in 1996. An attempt
will be made to have units installed in all training boats at all certified
training sites listed above. The unit is commercially available for all
interested parties wishing to train with the unit prior to the event.
