1899 – Published Resurrection, and used funds from it to finance the emigration of the Doukhobors from Russian Transcaucasia to Canada. Among others who helped the Doukhobors, Tolstoy's eldest son, Sergei, traveled to Canada with them and made interesting notes about this trip.
