Vth International Dostoevsky Symposium: Preliminary Information

The Organizing Committee chaired by Prof. Michel Cadot (Sorbonne, Paris) announces that the Vth International Dostoevsky Symposium will take place August 16 - 23, 1983 at the Centre Culturel International, Cerisy la Salle, Normandie, France.

The program as proposed by the Committee foresees a total of 36 reports and two round table discussions with five panelists per session.

The following theme has been proposed for the Symposium: "Dostoevsky's Work in the First Half of the 1870's".

The topics will be:

August 17: Historical Context
August 18: Philosophical Ideas
August 20: Creative Process and Protagonists
August 21: Structure and Genre
August 22: Language and Style

Round table discussions:

August 22: Dostoevsky as a Publicist
August 23: Dostoevsky's Novels of the 1870's

Members who want to participate actively in the work of the Symposium are requested to contact the appropriate member of the Program Committee. The final selection of contributions is subject to approval by the Program Committee chaired by Prof. R.-L. Jackson. Members of the Committee are:

Prof. Alexis Guédroitz (responsible for Belgium, Great Britain, Netherlands and all East European countries except Yugoslavia);

"Dostoievski dans la conscience d'aujourd'hui"

The Association SOPHIA-ANTIPOLIS sponsored a Colloquium "Dostoievski dans la conscience d'aujourd'hui" dedicated to the centenary of P.M. Dostoevsky (1821 - 1881) which took place at Valbonne (France) July 8 to 10. The scholarly organisation was conducted by Professor Jacques Catteau of the University of Paris-Sorbonne.
