Aboriginal Studies

Aboriginal Studies focuses on the languages, cultures, histories, arts, creativity, and well-being of Indigenous peoples and on their knowledge within Canada and worldwide. The program has a focus on critical analysis and logical and creative thinking, and it is concerned with the re-conceptualization of knowledge, requiring its students to examine their own knowledge and experiences from different perspectives. The program strives to fit the needs of all students, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal both.

TYP students have the option to take ABS100Y1 - Introductory Aboriginal Studies in their year of study at TYP as their required option course. However, students, should they choose to, can take further courses in Aboriginal Studies program once they start their undergrad studies at the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto upon successful graduation from TYP.
