The Boone Lab looks over downtown Toronto from the 13th floor of the Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research, a multidisciplinary research institute involving several different faculties within the University of Toronto.
Dr Boone's lab is focused on the development and application of functional genomics techniques to a number of biological problems.
We have an open concept lab that is shared with Brenda Andrews and Tim Hughes; this format allows us to work efficiently on a number of collaborative projects.
In particular, our project for global mapping of genetic interactions in yeast is carried out as a joint collaboration with the Andrews lab and thus many of the the projects described on this site are collaborative efforts and many of the people work for both labs.
We are developing and applying functional genomics approaches for mapping genetic, chemical-genetic, protein-protein interactions using a yeast model system. The ultimate goal is to place all yeast genes and their corresponding products on a functional network. On this website we describe a number of our current projects directed towards this goal.
In SGA technology we describe the robotics and methods developed by our group for manipulating high density yeast arrays and automating yeast genetic analysis.
We are always interested in receiving applications from both experimentalists and computational scientists interested in functional genomics.
