in partnership with Atlantic School of Theology Take Care 2011: Mid-Career Stretch 1:30 pm Monday May 16th - 4:30 pm Wednesday May 18th, 2011 660 Francklyn St . Halifax, NS B3H 3B5 Facilitated by our Centre Director the Rev. Andrew Irvine, PhD We all need time - time to dream dreams and have renewed vision. When was the last time you had opportunity to dream and imagine what could be? Research has shown that as clergy approach the decade mark in their ministry, a time of reflection and refocus is often needed. The sparks of newness have faded and the finish line seems far off. Issues of mid-life begin to creep in. The Centre offers this event for ordered clergy and diaconal ministers, and designated lay ministers in their 8th, 9th or 10th year of pastoral ministry or in the midst of their mid-life years. Come and experience time with colleagues, consider your journey and equip yourself to continue with renewed vitality and self-awareness!
Comments from past Take Care participants: “Thank you for telling us that we matter! For reminding us that the Church was here before, will probably be here after, and that we have a stewardship/a responsibility to care for ourselves.” "It helped me to see the persona we take on as ministers, and that we need places to let them down and be ourselves. We need to build in time to be intimate with God, with self and with others." "Rediscerning the call with the Biblical story – this gave me a lot of peace! Talking to colleagues – knowing that their insecurities are the same – or that they even have problems I don’t was helpful!" This event is generously sponsored by the Beatty Ryckman Trust.
