Welcome to the Nell Shipman WebSite

At this site you will find information related to Nell Shipman, her films, life, extant documents and other links to resources related to film, silent film, and women directors. I have taken the liberty of including the texts of published articles I have written about Nell Shipman, and I encourage anyone else who has written about her or other silent women filmmakers to send me their texts for inclusion.

This site has been constructed by Joseph Bishay working with Jennifer Little. Joseph and Jennifer are undergraduate students working in a Research Opportunity Program with Kay Armatage (Cinema Studies/Women's Studies) at University of Toronto. Joseph is maintaining the site, which is still under construction but developing rapidly. Jennifer is working on Nell Shipman's 1939 letters, which will be edited and mounted on this site soon.
