The call for a standard podium came from both instructors, who use the podium,
and from the A/V departments on all three campuses, who specify and maintain electronic podiums and projection equipment.
In 2005 a subcommittee was formed to to do three things:
1) to implement previous University regulations to provide uniform access to classroom presentation technology
2) To facilitate instructor use of classroom technologies
3) To improve student educational experience
Various prototypes were built and improved upon, to include the built-in computer, the touchscreen and the live helpdesk intercom.
The Stations are being installed in existing rooms on all three campus' and are being specified as standard equipment in new construction.
