House in Khamovniki

1880 – The Tolstoy family began to spend winters in Moscow. In 1881, Tolstoy participated in the Moscow census and began to study and write about urban poverty.

1882 – Bought a house in Moscow in a neighbourhood of factories called Khamovniki.
