HTML 3.2 introduced initially support for style sheets. A style sheet is a suplementary documents, written in a language different than HTML, which contain style formatting instructions that can be applied to an HTML document. The STYLE element can be used to reference such an external documennt, or it can contain a set of formatting instructions to be used in the document.
This is done by either:
The STYLE is currently supported by Netscape Navigator 4 and Internet Explorer 4. However, both browsers do not properly support the style sheet language, (known as cascading style sheets), so that the element is not widely used.
