The tower that tops the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library - called by many the goose's head to the goose's body that is Robarts Library - is purely decorative, meant to add esthetic balance. One cost-saving plan, however, nearly cut the head off the goose, until the chairman of the property committee learned that the tower would cost only $10,000. He then declared that, at that price, he quite liked it.
