Summer in the city: undergrad researchers making new bike lanes happen

Looking forward to getting around the city by bike this summer? You might want to thank some U of T students for making that a little easier. In 1976, the City of Toronto proposed bike lanes for a busy section of Bloor Street that includes an area known as the “Annex.” Forty years later, those bike lanes may finally become a reality – and U of T’s Cody Kita and Adam De Luca played a small but important role in the epic battle.

New lizard found in Dominican Republic, U of T researchers say

A University of Toronto-led team has reported the discovery of a new lizard in the middle of the most-visited island in the Caribbean, strengthening a long-held theory that communities of lizards can evolve almost identically on separate islands.

Connaught Committee funds rising research stars

The annual Connaught New Researcher Awards are provided to assistant professors within the first five years of a tenured-stream academic appointment to help them establish strong research programs. This year the fund is awarding a total of $966,000 to 63 researchers across a range of disciplines.
