Council Watch E-News Volume Ten
IN THIS ISSUE:
1. Beach Watch, TEA's clean beaches campaign started in
June, 2001 with a group of youth making up the Beach Watch Patrol
and surveying beach-goers on pollution and solutions.
2. Rocket Riders, our transit user group invited a member
of New York City's Straphangers to Toronto to talk about their successful
campaign to save a system that was losing riders and government
funding.
3. Under the Water Watch banner, we also teamed up the Canadian
Environmental Law Association (CELA), Canadian Institute for Environmental
Law and Policy (CIELAP), Toronto Labor Council, and CUPE 416 and
79 to stop the giveaway of our water system to an arms-length managing
body.
