Not long ago, "browsing" basically consisted of following text-only hyperlinks, and HTML had to be created from scratch using powerful editors such as vi.
With the recent explosive growth of the World Wide Web, the variety and versatility of HTML-related tools has increased dramatically. The following documents contain information about, and links to download, a large selection of the browsers, browser helper apps, HTML editors, and document / image management tools that are currently available.
These links are organized by platform, and then by tool type. "Miscellaneous Tools" include utilities for making transparent and interlaced GIF images, image mapping software to make clickable images, guides to CGI and Perl, and other packages and resources that don't fall easily into any of the above categories.
