Message from the President

The SOG Annual General Meeting - October 6, 2004

You won't want to miss hearing Sister Elizabeth Davis, Class of '85 talk about the Ethics of Leadership at this year's Annual Meeting. Sister Elizabeth was president and CEO of the Health Corporation of St. John's Newfoundland from 1994 - 2001 and currently is a doctoral student in scripture at the Toronto School of Theology, University of Toronto.

For further details on Sister Elizabeth's background and Value Based Leadership, read the her profile in Hospital Quarterly Fall 2002 at www.longwoods.com/jobsite/HQ61SisterDavis.pdf (Adobe PDF).

The AGM date has been moved up this year, so as not to conflict with the OHA Convention; like all other Society events, is open to graduates, students, faculty, family and friends.

This Annual General Meeting will celebrate the class of '79's achievements. A banner year for the graduating class of 25 years ago: this class seems to comprise one of the highest number of hospital CEOs in recent years. Despite geographic challenges, we hope all these alumni will make the effort to be there to compare notes.

Farewell to Rose York Jones

It is with regret that I inform you that Rose York Jones will be resigning as Business Manager to the Society of Graduates in HPME as of the end of September 2004. Rose has been our Business Manager since 1996… and I’m sure most of us can’t imagine the Society without her! Over the years, our Executive has come to depend on Rose’s dedication, commitment and keen organization skills. She has helped to ensure success in 8 Education Day events and 8 Annual General Meetings, not to mention countless newsletters, mailings and inquiries that she has handled over the years. Please join me in extending our deepest gratitude to Rose and wishing her well as she assumes additional responsibilities as a support to Joe Mapa as he assumes the Chair role for the Toronto Academic Health Science Network.

Thank you, Rose!
