Message from the President

Education Day – Wednesday May 18, 2005

This year's Alumni Education Day, "Transformation in Healthcare - Lessons Learned Sustaining Momentum and Managing Expectations" is fast approaching. It will be moderated by HPME's Dr. Adalsteinn Brown, the lead on the Information Management initiative of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care's Transformation Strategy. Keynote speaker, Dr. Ken Kizer, President and CEO of National Quality Forum will present "Advice for Leaders and Participants Undergoing Transformation Initiatives". Dr. Kizer is the chief architect and driving force behind the transformation of the US Department of Veteran's Affairs healthcare services.

Education Day will be held at the Ontario Science Centre at 770 Don Mills Road from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm , followed by lunch. 2005 Annual General Meeting

The 2005 Alumni AGM will be held on Thursday, October 20 . This year it will be held again at the fabulous University Club venue.  The AGM event is one of the Society's principle events with a prominent speaker, awards and a celebration of the graduating class of 25 years ago - the Class of '80. 

Graduate Literary Award

Have you written an article lately? If your article has been published within the last year, you are eligible to be considered for our Graduate Literary Award. There is a $1000 prize and well-deserved publicity amongst the alumni community. The Award will be presented at the Annual General Meeting in October.

What do you need to do? Send a copy of your article to jenn_mike@sympatico.ca, or P.O. Box 972, Kleinburg, ON  L0J 1C0.

Graduate Leadership Award

Due to the excellent and expanding calibre amongst our alumni group, we are raising the profile of the Leadership Award. A Selection Committee comprised of your peers has been assembled to actively seek candidates to be considered for this award. In addition, as graduates, you can also nominate a colleague by sending a nomination form to jenn_mike@sympatico.ca, or P.O. Box 972, Kleinburg, ON  L0J 1C0 . Nomination forms can be found on the Society of Graduates' website.

The Award will be presented at the Annual General Meeting in October. Attendance is mandatory in order to receive the award. The prize includes:

Are you interested in getting involved? Join our Executive Committee! Our group of dynamic, fun alumni meet once a month and are charged with the responsibility of organizing the Society's annual events. E-mail your interest to jenn_mike@sympatico.ca. Membership will be ratified at the AGM.
