Research Day 2013 - May 1

We cordially invite all IHPME alumni to attend the 2013 IHPME-GSU Research Day.

The SOG is a proud sponsor of the annual IHPME Research Day on Wednesday, 1 May 2013. This year's theme is Challenges and Opportunities in Leading Healthcare Systems Change. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Martin Marshall, professor of health-care improvement at University College, London, and the lead for Improvement Science London.

There will also be a panel of health-system leaders who will discuss transformational change experiences, and decision-making within health-care systems. The day will also feature students' oral and poster presentations, an awards presentation, a networking breakfast and lunch, and a wine-and-cheese reception.

Research Day is an excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange among IHPME students, faculty, and alumni. The event will profile research and career development in areas of health policy, health economics, epidemiology, clinical performance measurement, and health-program evaluation. Research Day also enables attendees to share interprofessional interests, network with prospective research partners, and meet health-services decision-makers.

Education Day 2013 – May 9

Stick, Spread, and Sell

Plan to attend Education Day 2013 on Thursday, 9 May 2013. The title of this year's event is Stick, Spread, and Sell: How to Transform Innovation into Scalable and Sustainable Solutions to Address the Most Complex Challenges in the Health System Today.

Education Day 2013 will explore a critical issue facing Canada's health-care system: the need to focus on health-system sustainability while advancing quality. This requires a dynamic approach to balance health economics and quality while ensuring the leadership capacity of students, alumni, faculty, and others to advance required change. Success requires innovation as well as opportunities to learn from an innovation, hard-wire that change, and develop strategies for its spread, scale, and sustainability.

This year's format is inspired by TED Talks. Each focus area will be presented and then an expert "interrogator" will inspire a meaningful dialogue.
