As part of the CIHR Collaborative Graduate Training
Program in Molecular Medicine, we are pleased to announce one more
opportunity for doctoral studentships.
Eligibility guidelines are comparable to those of the CIHR doctoral
awards program. Students must be enrolled in a fulltime graduate training
program at the University of Toronto, be directly supervised by a
faculty member of the Program and have no other studentship support
for the requested funding period.
The current competition will consist of studentships valued at @ $21,000/annum
with a maximum one-year duration.
The earliest start date can be retroactive to April 1st, 2008 if the
student has no other comparable funding.
The latest start date can be October 1st, 2008. All funding
must end by March 31st, 2009.

The deadline for completed applications will be
August 31st, 2008. There will be no exceptions for incomplete
applications. Students previously funded by the Molecular Medicine
Training Program are eligible to apply.
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of members of the Molecular
Medicine Training Program and awardees will be announced by September
15th, 2008. Awardees will be required to provide progress
reports following the end of the funding period.

Application will require:
- a letter from the University department indicating 1) the start
date of the PhD program or 2) the start date of the MSc program
for students that have successfully transferred to a PhD program
- completed pages 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, of the CIHR
Training module Form( 12/2004)
- three confidential letters of reference form individuals (with
one from the supervisor) that can that can comment on laboratory
skills, interests in scientific endeavour, and future potential
as a researcher in sealed envelopes (signed across seal)
- undergraduate transcripts and the most recent graduate school
transcript with list of current and completed courses
- a CV, no longer than four pages, with a complete list of relevant
earlier experiences, achievements, publications and statement
of interest in the field of Molecular Medicine

2008 Travel Awards of the
CIHR Collaborative Graduate Training Program in Molecular Medicine
at the University of Toronto

As part of the CIHR Collaborative
Graduate Training Program in Molecular Medicine, we are pleased
to announce travel awards for doctoral students to attend scientific
meetings. Applicants should be enrolled in a full-time graduate
training program at the University of Toronto and be directly supervised
by a faculty member of the Collaborative Program. The current competition
will consist of awards valued in Can$800(for Canada), $1000(for
US) and $1,400 (for overseas conferences). The funds can be used
for costs associated with travel, accommodation, and/or conference
registration fees. Awardees must be a PhD candidate at the time
of the conference and the presenting author of a work of original
research.
The travel awards are available for scientific meetings held between
July 1, 2008 and March 31, 2009.
The deadline for this series of awards will be Monday December 15,
2008. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of members of the
Molecular Medicine Training Program and awardees will be announced
by January 12, 2008.
Application will require:
- a copy of the student's abstract, and evidence
that it has been accepted for presentation at a national or international
meeting that relates to the field of Molecular Medicine.
- a short statement of travel, accommodations and
conference costs (actual or estimated)
- a short statement from the supervisor indicating
commitment to support the applicant's additional travel costs
(not covered by the award)
- a letter from the University department indicating

interests in scientific endeavour and future potential as a researcher

are asked to submitted all original receipts along with the
