EXTRA-CURRICULAR AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

We strive to create a relaxing and comfortable learning environment. Participants will have full use of the Crowne Plaza's indoor and outdoor swimming pool and fitness facilities, spa facilities (more information below) and any organized recreational programs.

We also offer a variety of organized social and recreational activities that are free of charge and open to all, including activities with First Peoples and Francophone orientation. Participants sign up in advance when they arrive at the Summer School. Activities include:

  • Monday June 25, 6:00-10:00pm
    ABORIGINAL TRADITIONAL GATHERING - Supper Feast and Entertainment
    Featuring a special menu in celebration of National Aboriginal Day and a number of performers including Jamie Maracle and Wahahi:io Drum Group (Mohawk), Toronto.
    ALL ARE WELCOME. Pre-registration is necessary (sign-up sheet will be at the main registration table). Activity is free of charge.

  • Tuesday June 26, 12:30-1:30pm
    FRANCOPHONE FESTIVITIES – Lunch with Musical Entertainmen

    ALL ARE WELCOME. No pre- registration is necessary. Activity is free of charge.

  • Tuesday June 26 6:30 – 10:30 pm
    BUS TO DOWNTOWN TORONTO
    Bus will load at the front of the Crowne Plaza and drop PRE-REGISTERED participants off and pick them up at Eaton Centre (Yonge/Dundas) and Harbourfront. Other than the bus pick-up and drop-off there are no pre-organized arrangements - participants will make their own plans.

    The activity is free of charge however a $20 deposit must be paid when signing up at the main HPSS registration table. This deposit will be refunded on the bus.

    Dinner will be served early on Tuesday evening so that participants can dine before leaving.

  • Tuesday June 26, 7:30-9:00pm
    PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS
    Personal Development Workshops are time-out sessions for participants at the Summer School. Focused on offering ways of handling stress and improving self-care, a variety of hands-on workshops will be offered on Tuesday evening from 7:30-9:00 p.m.

    These sessions are optional, however participants must select one on their registration form when registering.

The ONE Spa at Crowne Plaza offering 15% discount on services listed here to all those attending Summer School who book appointments before June 15. Please expect discounts of 10% if you book before June 24.

ATTIRE FOR SUMMER SCHOOL
Casual dress is recommended. Please bring a bathing suit and appropriate clothing if you would like to swim and use spa and sports facilities.

At different points throughout the Summer School, optional group exercise breaks will be offered.
