Networking Activites

The majority of network members live in the greater Toronto area, so the first network meeting was held in Toronto in 2005. About 94% of survey respondents said they were interested in attending this meeting and many would be interested in speaking about their student or post-graduation experiences. Respondents felt that the meeting should include both social and research-related activities (guest speakers, debates on topical policy issues, member presentation of current research, panel discussions, workshops, forum for job searching).

The network leaders may also organize network events at upcoming conferences. The most commonly attended conferences amongst survey respondents were CAHSPR, iHEA, ISPOR, Canadian Health Economics Study Group, and CAPT. (Many other conferences were identified by individual respondents.) This year, members are most likely to attend iHEA and CAHSPR.

Other Network Activities

Only one person was opposed to having their name listed on the CHSRF CAN! website. We may add a list of names and email addresses to the website in the future to facilitate contact amongst network members.

Many respondents were interested in both the manuscript review and the formal mentorship program. These activities will be developed by the network leaders in 2005 and coordinated through the CHSRF CAN! website.

Network Funding

The survey respondents felt that the network funds could be used to fund a number of activities, including:

  • Development of eletronic resources for network (e.g. online directory for members)
  • Knowledge transfer, dissemination and communication iniatiatives
  • Network dinners & meetings
  • Panel discussions
  • Poster development
  • Research projects
  • Speaker series
  • Student conference attendance
  • Workshops
